Primary 4 and 5 pupils concluded their World Around Us topic on ‘Trees’ today 22/10/21. The pupils have worked with great interest and enthusiasm throughout September and October researching common trees in small groups. The pupils were tasked to find out facts about a chosen tree and create a PowerPoint presentation. The pupils presented their findings to all in their class demonstrating important skills of gathering information from non-fiction texts, using ICT and working together collaboratively and co-operatively. To connect to their learning a school trip was arranged to participate in The ‘Apple Tree Event’ held at Palace Stables in Armagh. This was a wonderful educational trip to find out about the many varieties of apples, the planting and harvesting of this fruit and how apples were pressed long ago to make apple juice and used in cooking.
