P5/6 travel back in time to the Mesolithic Era
We have been studying how people lived in Ireland 9000 years ago. Mesolithic means middle Stone Age - so we had to think about how people hunted animals, gathered nuts and berries, built their own huts and cooked on a fire.
To finish off, we had a Mesolithic Day, when we made clothes out of leather - then we went outside!
We were put into 3 groups - one group did the fire, another group did the hut and the other group did the potato peeling. We all took turns at the stations. At the end when we were all cooking dough, the smoke was coming up from the fire and we realised how hard life would have been back then. When the dough was ready we ate it - or at least tried it! It was a great day outside.
Thank you too to Mrs Grew, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Canavan for all their help!
